| The idea of creating a new group originated when 4LezOnly, where "The Oldies” got to know each other, was having troubles regarding to posting replies to the threads (not to mention it was public and unattended by the moderator). Being concerned about our “society’s” privacy, The Oldies came up with a solution – a new group; a fresh start.
Being an active member of the group, I was chosen to create a new congregation; a group of people who can freely express their thoughts, ideas, and beliefs without the judgmental and critical eyes of people who can’t understand us. Hence, Rainbow Pride was brought to existence on the 6th of October year 2007.
Then:
RP started as a small and humble community with people who know each other really well. With the help of Yahoo Messenger, members got connected through Group Conferences and private messages. Also with our advance technology today, cellular phones did not limit the interaction of the members in the forum. Members from certain countries like Philippines and U.A.E. have had Group EBs where members get to interact not only in the forum but also in real life.
Now:
RP is still continually striving to be not just a good a social function but as a better one. The number of people who wants to join has been steadily rising and until now members still have that bond they have made with each other. Until now, as far as I am aware of, we still have Group EBs and conferences but not as often as it was before.
Now that we have our very own site for our forum, it’s a sign that our group is progressively growing and expanding to a whole new level.
Looking Ahead:
Currently, there’s only ten more days left until Rainbow Pride’s first year anniversary. One year of friendship and bonding, laughters and tears. One year of ups and downs, break ups and make ups. After those times that all of us have shared, I hope that we will still continue to build not walls and boundaries, but a better and a happier community for all of us to enjoy and cherish.
